Hello again! My short story, Investigating the Sea-Hag Menace, will be included in this fabulous anthology, due out in December 2021 from Improbable Press. Please do check it out: there are two volumes, with lots of great stories in each. Mine will be in Volume Blue.
Investigating the Sea-Hag Menace is one of those stories that grew from an imagined conversation, in this case between a woman and her husband. I imagined her losing her cool over something trivial after years of staying quiet for the sake of keeping the peace, and it blossomed from there. I didn’t write the story with this particular anthology in mind but when I’d finished, I saw the call for submissions and I knew it would be a perfect fit. Thankfully, the anthology’s editor, Atlin Merrick, thought so too and here we are.
I knew I had a good story on my hands when both my genre-writing friends in the Northwrite SF writers’ group and my friends from my MA/MFA cohort at Manchester Metropolitan University’s writing school liked it. Feedback from both groups helped me polish Investigating the Sea-Hag Menace into what I think is probably the best short story I’ve written so far, in terms of craft. I can’t wait to see what readers think.
Preorders are open for both volumes, starting at $7.95 for the e-book up to $29.95 for the hardcover.
